Choosing the right neighborhood is as important in finding a home as choosing the right number of bedrooms. Some find this an easy choice, while others need to explore for a neighborhood that feels right. We appreciate the differences in our clients and understand one size will not fit all when choosing a neighborhood. For that reason, we are listing five neighborhood categories to support your decision-making process for finding the perfect home for your dream lifestyle.

  • City/Urban Life: Commuting to the city every day for work or school can be time-consuming and stressful. Sometimes the best fit is finding a home right in the city center or urban corridor. Take advantage of public transportation, walk, or ride a bike as your mode of commuting. Enjoy restaurants, coffee shops, theatres, and nightlife all conveniently located close to home. You can find a little green space in city life, too, but it usually comes in the form of parks and not personal yards. For example, downtown Tampa offers Curtis Hixon Park in walking distance to several residential high-rises.
  • Beach/Coastal Communities: The power and beauty of the Gulf of Mexico brings many people to live on its shores. There is nothing like a sunset walk along the beach or spotting a pod of dolphins passing by. Life at the beach tends to be a more laid-back lifestyle. This could be due to the meditative sound of waves crashing on the shore or that flip-flops are a perfectly acceptable shoe to wear anywhere. Either way, a home at the beach can be a hub for relaxation. From Clearwater to St. Petersburg, coastal living can be your choice of homes off the beaten path to homes in the thick of tourist action.
  • Suburbs/ Neighborhoods: Being close but not too close to your neighbors can be the perfect placement of a home. For folks that resonate with that statement, a home in the suburbs may be ideal. Pool homes with small-to-medium-sized yards are common in our suburbs. This can provide a nice balance for those who want green space to care for, but nothing backbreaking and full-time. Tampa’s suburban areas, like Carrollwood, are diverse and are ripe with good schools, shopping, dining, and family activities.
  • Hip/Artsy Districts: Do you love to attend every new restaurant or gallery opening? Do you always shop in locally owned boutiques and markets? Maybe the best spot for your home is right in the middle of all of those things. New pockets of hip neighborhoods have popped up all over the Greater Tampa Bay area. These neighborhoods contain businesses on the cutting edge of what is trending. Our fun, vibrant districts include downtown St. Pete, Seminole Heights, SOHO, and Ybor to name a few.
  • Acreage/Rural Areas: Privacy and space to stretch out is of paramount importance to many of us. Without traffic and street noise, rural life also offers quietness accompanied by the occasional calls of birds and insects. A rural home usually includes more work to maintain yards and green space, but for some, that can be fulfilling work. If your dream lifestyle includes raising chickens and goats or growing a crop of strawberries, then a rural home in Hillsborough, Pasco, or Polk counties may be your perfect fit.
