The Greater Tampa Bay Area has been heating up with fantastic spring activities, and the fun won’t stop anytime soon. Flowers have bloomed, baseball season has started, and spring has sprung with events and festivals throughout are area. We’ve compiled a small sampling of our area’s must-attend events slated for May.

May 2018 Festivals & Events

  1. Operation Helping Hand Monthly Dinner (May 17): With Memorial Day approaching, the month of May is a wonderful time to celebrate our military. There are plenty of ways to help your local military and veterans. For example, Operation Helping Hand hosts a monthly dinner on the third Thursday of every month at James A. Haley Veterans Hospital. Operation Helping Hand is a nonprofit providing support for the families of wounded and injured active-duty military. Learn more about this nonprofit at

Downtown Saturday Morning Market (Saturdays through May 26): Catch the final weekends of this relaxing fresh market on Saturday mornings through May 26 at Al Lang Stadium’s parking lot in downtown St. Petersburg. Browse over 100 farmer booths and specialty vendors. Find fresh produce, gourmet delights, crafts, plants, and more. Visit for more information.
  3. Tampa Bay Margarita Festival (May 26-27): Tampa will be celebrating that tasty concoction in Curtis Hixon Park at the annual Margarita Festival. An assortment of cocktails, including non-tequila-based drinks, will be offered along with music and entertainment. Visit for ticket prices and more information.
  4. Bay Pines VA Memorial Day Ceremony (May 28): An annual Memorial Day Ceremony is held at C.W. Bill Young VA Medical Center and National Cemetery at Bay Pines in St. Petersburg. In past years, local dignitaries and celebrities have joined the community in this ceremony including a firing salute and taps performance. Visit for updates about the 2018 event.
