Holiday Spirit is Alive Around Tampa!

The Greater Tampa Bay area is celebrating the holidays with twinkling lights, festive activities, and charitable opportunities.  We hope you will get out and enjoy all that our area has to offer this season. We’ve compiled a small sampling of attractions and events especially for you that are close to our hearts.

-Holiday Lights:December is a terrific time to tour Tampa for beautifully decorated trees and festive décor. As proud members of the Carrollwood Area Business Association (www.UseCABA.com), we joyfully celebrated CABA’s Holiday Tree Lighting at Elmcroft of Carrollwood on Dec. 3.  Also, the City of Tampa’s annual Tree Lighting Ceremony was held in Curtis Hixon Park on Dec. 2.Even if you’ve missed the lighting ceremonies, you still have time this month to view those beautifully decorated trees as well as other trees around our area, including Hyde Park Village in Tampa, John Wilson Park Gazebo in Safety Harbor, Clymer Park in Gulfport, Edgewater Park at Dunedin Marina, Largo Central Park, and North Straub Park in St. Petersburg.  Additionally, we recommend enjoying Florida’s array of holiday light shows, including animated displays at Busch Gardens, Florida Botanical Gardens, and Hillsborough County Fairgrounds.Check local news and calendars for listings and details.

-Family Fun: Just because we live in Florida, it doesn’t mean we don’t like a little frozen fun.  If you’re craving that feeling of winter, be sure to go ice skating at Tampa’s Winter Village located downtown in Curtis Hixon Park. For just $12, you can enjoy a 90-minute session with skate rental included. The outdoor rink is open every day through Christmas, and the rink’s snack bar is stocked with holiday treats and festive drinks. Visit www.friendsoftamparec.org for more information.

This is just the icing on the cake.  There is an array of additional options, including holiday movies and plays, photo opportunities with Santa, community center parties for seniors, Hanukah events, religious services, and uniquely themed happenings this month.
