-How to Help People Across Tampa Bay-

Non-profits could use your support this holiday season to help people across Tampa Bay. With storms and inflation affecting everything from food to household items, there are many locals struggling to make ends meet. Also, Tampa Bay has a larger population of seniors than comparable U.S. metro regions, thus, adding to the number of local people needing assistance.

Fortunately, Tampa Bay non-profits are rising to the challenge of meeting the needs of our neighbors. If you have time to volunteer, or if you would like to donate, there are many holiday fundraisers and causes for you to consider. You can also support community efforts by helping large organizations like Metropolitan Ministries or Community Foundation Tampa Bay.

Here are Other Opportunities to Help Tampa Bay Communities:

  1. Become a Tampa Bay Senior in Service

Wonderfully, many Tampa Bay seniors enjoy the luxury of free time.  Retirees have limitless local options for coastal activities, but some of us like to extend a helping hand when we have time on our hands. If that sounds like you, check into Seniors in Service for volunteer opportunities. Since 1984, the non-profit has placed seniors in volunteer positions across Hillsborough, Pinellas, and Pasco Counties. The group works to help all kinds of people, including kids, veterans, and homebound seniors.

  1. Join a Community Effort to Feed People

Many families are facing difficult times and having trouble with rising costs at the grocery store.  You can help by donating food to a local pantry or by volunteering your time to serve food. Feeding Tampa Bay is one of our area’s largest food-focused non-profits, but you can zone in to help your specific community pantry. Our Carrollwood-based real estate team encourages our neighbors to support The Community Food Pantry (www.thecommunityfoodpantry.com). Also, check with local religious organizations or the Red Cross of Tampa Bay for ways to help.

  1. Drive Your Way to Helping Neighbors

In addition to food pantries, many local seniors and homebound individuals rely on the national Meals on Wheels Program for daily meals. With a valid Florida Driver’s license and a smile, you could be serving neighbors throughout Hillsborough, Pinellas, and Pasco counties. Often, delivery persons are the only face-to-face contact for homebound individuals, meaning your visit provides more than a meal. You could light up their day and brighten their holiday season.

  1. Make Military Families Feel Special

As the home of MacDill Airforce base, the Tampa Bay area is home to thousands of active military members as well as veterans and retired military members from across the U.S.  In addition to local VA Hospitals and the American Legion, you can find many military-focused services in our area. Our real estate team has spent years volunteering our time and helping to serve military families through Operation Helping Hand, which assists families of wounded and injured active-duty military.
