Tampa Bay’s Best Water Activities

The best part about living on Florida’s coast is we have some of the most beautiful beaches and waterways in the world.  Anything involving water is wonderful for cooling down and enjoying Florida in August.  Whether you want to spend a quiet day on Honeymoon Island, or you are ready for some fun at John’s Pass Village, we have seaside adventures to match all tastes. Around Tampa Bay, you may enjoy water adventures or choose to lounge by glistening waters. Here are a few of our favorite things to do around water in our area:

  • Boating: Boats of all sizes cruise Florida’s waterways on a year-round basis.  Boaters can enjoy navigating rivers, bays, channels, causeways, and the Gulf of Mexico.  Whether taking a charter boat or your own vessel, you’ll have your choice of everything from deep-sea fishing for grouper to shallow-water fishing for trout. Notably, Florida Fishing Licenses are required for individuals 16 years old and over for recreational fishing activities.  Check local jurisdictions for fees, terms, and requirements.
  • Family Fun: In addition to swimming, families and friends can enjoy jet skiing, paddle boarding, and flying kites along our beautiful shores or causeways. You may also enjoy some scenic exercise by riding bikes down Bayshore Boulevard. Best of all, you don’t always have to leave your furry friends at home. You’ll find waterfront dog parks on Davis Island, Honeymoon Island, and several other beaches across our area.  Check your local neighborhood for dog-friendly areas to enjoy with your family and pets.
  • Adventures: For a fun day in downtown Tampa, simply hop on a water taxi. Water taxi services cruise riders along numerous stops including museums, restaurants, and entertainment spots along the Hillsborough River.  For action-packed fun, our area is also notorious for adventure parks.  You may enjoy Adventure Island, a 30-acre outdoor water theme park in Tampa.  Busch Gardens Tampa Bay, of course, offers water rides in addition to rollercoasters and zoo animals.
  • Relaxation: Build a sandcastle on Clearwater Beach’s sugar-white sand, walk along the best beaches of America, or swim in the warm Gulf waters. If staying inland, you can unwind by enjoying one of the new waterfront restaurants on Tampa’s Riverwalk. You may also easily find access to dinner cruises for a romantic evening with that special someone on the water. For more privacy, there are luxury yacht charters to reserve for couples or small groups to enjoy a sunset sail.

Snowbirds and tourists from around the world flock to the Greater Tampa Bay Area for our unique array of water parks, water activities, fishing, and beautiful beaches.  We enjoy helping our Tampa area customers enjoy local amenities while living the ultimate Florida life.
