Sponsorships Are Still Available For the March 18th Golf Benefit For Operation Helping Hand!
We are truly excited to be pin sponsors for the Military Officers Association of America’s (MOAA) charity golf tournament on Friday, March 18th. The event takes place at the Bay Palms Golf Course located at MacDill AFB and will benefit a group that you know is very special to us: Operation Helping Hand, an all-volunteer organization that assists families of active-duty service men and women who were wounded in Iraq and Afghanistan. This group is run by military retired officers and volunteers who donate their time and care, and do not receive any compensation.
While the tournament is already sold out to golfers, there are still sponsorships available for those who are looking to contribute to a deserving cause. There will also be an awards dinner with prizes, drawings and a silent auction that anyone can participate in. And as if that isn’t enough, we are also excited to see a few of the United States Air Force Thunderbirds who may be practicing for Airfest during the golf event!
The purpose of the golf tournament is to raise funds to support Op HH that assists injured active duty military personnel (and their families) who are being cared for at the James A. Haley VA Hospital here in Tampa. The group was started by the MOAA over eleven years ago and relies solely on individual and corporate donations for support.
You may recall that every third Thursday of the month, the Op HH organization welcomes community members who wants to share a meal with military families and recovering military patients. Every patient who is able to attend the meal receives flowers and gifts that were purchased through donations and fund raisers. The dinners are underwritten by various generous organizations throughout Tampa Bay.
This is a wonderful way to provide moral support to our active military personnel while they recover from their injuries. The next dinner is scheduled for Thursday, April 21st and Dick and I will be there helping the Op HH team prep, serve and clean up after the meals. And just like all of the monthly dinners, it is free and open to the public.
