Events & Festivals Springing Up in Tampa

We hope you are enjoying this fresh feeling of springtime. Flowers are blooming and the Tampa Bay area is buzzing with events and festivals from Bayshore to the Gulf shores.  In addition to baseball games and golf events throughout our area, there’s a delicious sampling of festivals and activities to celebrate the season.

-Dunedin Seafood Fest (March 24-25): Enjoy this free, two-day seafood festival in Dunedin’s Edgewater Park from the afternoon into the late evening.  Sponsored by Olde Bay Café with proceeds to benefit local charities, this event includes seafood, local cuisine, live entertainment, craft beers, and artist booths. Bring the entire family and pets to enjoy a day in Dunedin’s coastal splendor.

Taste of Carrollwood (April 2): Food tasting and free children’s activities abound at this free, family friendly event at George M. Steinbrenner Field from 12-5 pm. Carrollwood Area Business Association (CABA) truly gives back to the community with this annual event featuring food samplings from over 30 area restaurants and the chance to talk to many of the area’s businesses who are CABA members. Visit www.usecaba.com for more information.  As proud members of CABA, we can attest this is a fabulous community event, and we look forward to seeing you there!

Taste of South Tampa (April 2): Enjoy food samplings with a water view at The Tampa Garden Club on Bayshore Blvd. from 1-4 pm. Attendees will savor decadent delights from local restaurants, beverage samples, live entertainment, children’s activities, giveaways, and prizes.  Tickets are available through South Tampa Chamber of Commerce (www.southtampachamber.org). A portion of the proceeds from ticket sales will benefit Metropolitan Ministries.

Tampa Bay Blues Festival (April 7-9): Enjoy three days of blues on the Bay at Vinoy Park in St. Petersburg. The event will feature the biggest acts in blues, food samplings of local delights, premium beer, fine wine, arts, crafts, and an array of festival vendors. Visit http://tampabaybluesfest.com/ for artist lineups, schedules, and ticket information.

Pier 60 Sugar Sand Festival (April 14-23): This 10-day festival is something very special for Florida. Head to Clearwater Beach’s sugar-white sand to see unbelievable sand sculptures made by talented artists.  Check www.sugarsandfestival.com for a full schedule of daily activities, entertainment, fireworks, sculpting classes, and a sculpting competition.

Monthly Charitable Dinner (3rd Thursdays): As a reminder, Operation Helping Hand hosts its free monthly dinner at James A. Haley Veterans Hospital (Spinal Chord Unit) on the third Thursday of each month.  Operation Helping Hand is a nonprofit providing support for the families of wounded and injured active-duty military.
